HEAD CHEF
Born to Mauritian parents in London, Fazeel Damree was brought up in Islington where he lives. Towards the end of his A-Levels, Le Chamarel opened on the 31st of July in 2009 where he went on to understand traditional Mauritian cuisine at its finest. Learning to cook from his mother from the age of 10, he did not truly understand the supremacy and value of Mauritian cuisine, yet he was good at it.
After studying at the ICCA Dubai of culinary arts he learnt a whole new concept of cooking, understanding a wider variety of ingredients and expanding his knowledge further on to continental cuisine.
After developing his skills in modern day professional cooking and having family recipes passed down to him, he has developed his menu in eager to bring popularity to a finer Mauritian cuisine. After starting his journey in Mauritian cuisine professionally from 2009, he believes that Mauritian food has a remarkable quality and is a culture that has brought on many aromatic herbs and spices to such delicious ingredients.
Fazeel’s aim is to take Mauritian cuisine into the next level, giving you the highest standard of Mauritian food to offer in North London’s, ‘Le Chamarel’.
